Friends of Millisle Primary School
FMPS & N UPDATE
Millisle Primary School has a very healthy and supportive Parents/Friends Association:
The objects of the Association are:-
- to promote supportive relationships between home and school.
- to give parents, volunteers and teachers an opportunity to meet informally.
- to support the school, by raising funds for school equipment.
All parents, volunteers guardians and teachers of children attending the school are considered to be members and each year we like to encourage new parents and friends to become involved in the organization. However, the support of all parents is welcomed whenever the committee is organizing meetings and functions.
The committee of the Association consists of parent/volunteer members and teacher members. The office - bearers and parent members are elected at the Annual General meeting which is held early in the Autumn Term. We also have a Library Committee of parents and friends who support the children during their library activities.
During the school year a varied programme of events is organised so that there is something for everyone. These are generally of a social, economical or educational nature. In the past these have included fashion shows; cookery demonstrations; supper dances; beetle drives; table - top sales; discos for pupils; product demonstration evenings; car washes; coffee mornings; talks about aspects of the NI Curriculum; Christmas raffles; Christmas presents for the pupils and the highlight of the year is usually the Summer Fete.
The Friends of Millisle Primary School Association has provided much needed additional classroom equipment and resources, the purchase of this equipment has enriched the teaching environment for both pupils and teachers in all classrooms.
